A request to the voters of BTM Layout Assembly Constituency…

Dear Voters of BTM Layout Assembly Constituency,

As you may all know I contested from this constituency in 2013’s Karnataka State Assembly Elections, from Loksatta Party. Rejecting the regressive politics of caste, money, and traditional parties, 6536 people voted for me. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you.

Even though I lost the 2013 elections, I have continued my social and political activism with more vigor and conviction. We built a strong movement against corruption in KPSC in that year.

When there was a strong opinion of honest and anti-corruption activists joining hands, I joined Aam Aadmi Party in 2014 along with others and contested for the Loksabha from Bengaluru Rural Parliamentary Constituency upon the direction from the party. After that election, you all know that I was arrested during Mandur villagers’ agitation against the infamous Bengaluru’s Garbage crisis. I was part of the 39-days historic movement against Land-grabbing under the leadership of Freedom Fighter, Sh. H. S. Doreswamy, and went on a 3-day hunger strike. We went on a satyagraha demanding an enquiry into D K Ravi’s unnatural death. The consistent and prolonged fight against corruption in Lokayukta institution, Padayatra from Maddur to Mandya demanding reopening of MySugars factory, 8-days hunger strike against this government’s decision of killing Lokayukta institution and formation of weak ACB, etc., were some of the important social and political activism that I was part of in the 2+ years of my stay in AAP.

However, due to some serious issues with the party and internal differences I resigned to AAP a year back.

However, I have continued my social and political activism along with like-minded and public spirited citizens through Lanchamukta Karnataka Nirmana Vedike. We have conducted social-audit in more than 150 Government Offices and are instrumental in many positive changes, we have filed complaints against corrupt officials and made ACB raid/trap many of them, have conducted more than 15 seminars and workshops on RTI & Sakala Acts, have filed cases of public causes in the High Court and Lokayukta, etc., in the last one year.

Similarly, as part of Grand Alliance of People’s Movements, under the leadership of SR Hiremath, Devanur Mahadev, K S Puttannaiah, Raghavendra Kushtagi, participated in 11-days public awareness jatha and other events. I went on a hunger strike at 3-days Day & Night agitation at Gadag under the guidance of Sri Thontadarya Swamiji, demanding the conservation of Kappattagudda.

And, a couple of months back, 5-days, 90+ kms Long March (Padayatra) from Maddur to Adichunchanagiri Betta was carried out, demanding the prohibition of liquor in Karnataka.

These are some of the major work that I was involved in since 2013 election.

Now, shortly, another election to State Assembly is staring at us.

Even though I am not in any political party, I am committed to be part of the electoral politics, to fight for our rights and build a corruption-free and a just society. In this regard, I would like to have an open meeting with all the voters who voted for me in 2013, and with those who morally supported me even they could not vote, and discuss the future course of action. Details of the venue and timings will be shared shortly. I hereby request you to make time and participate in this meeting and share your feedback.

Best Regards,
Ravi Krishna Reddy
