ಬಿಟಿಎಂ ಲೇಔಟ್ ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆದ ಚುನಾವಣೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿದರೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ಎನ್ನಬಹುದಾದಂತಹ ಮತದಾನ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಚುನಾವಣೆಯ ದಿನದ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮತದಾನದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಕೇವಲ ಶೇ.40 ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಪರಿಷ್ಕೃತ ಮಾಹಿತಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಈಗ ಅದು ಶೇ.53 ಆಗಿದೆ. ಅನೇಕ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಗೆ ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಬಿಟಿಎಂ ಲೇಔಟ್ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಮತದಾರರು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಕಡೆ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್‌ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆಯಿಂದ ಸಂಜೆಯ ತನಕ ಮತದಾರರನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಮತ ಹಾಕಿಸುವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದಲೇ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕೆಲವು ಕಡೆ ಮತದಾರರು ಸಂಜೆ ಆರರ ನಂತರವೂ ಅಂದಿನ “ಬಟವಾಡೆ”ಗೆ ಗುಂಪುಗುಂಪಾಗಿ ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳ ಸಮೀಪ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದದ್ದೂ ಕಂಡುಬಂತು.
ಹೆಚ್ಚಿದ ಮತಚಲಾವಣೆಗೆ ಇದಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಲೋಕ್‌ಸತ್ತಾದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯೂ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಂಬಬಯಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಏನೇ ಇರಲಿ, ಮತಚಲಾವಣೆಯ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿದ್ದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮತದಾರರನ್ನು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಬಯಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಅಂದ ಹಾಗೆ, ಕಳೆದ ಎರಡೂವರೆ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ ಈ ಪ್ರಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸುಮಾರು ೮-೧೦ ಲಕ್ಷ ಖರ್ಚು ಆಗಿದೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿಯ ಬಹುಭಾಗ ಕರಪತ್ರ ಮುದ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ, SMS ಕಳುಹಿಸಲು, ಮತ್ತು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ/ಟಿವಿ ಜಾಹೀರಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದೆ. ಉಳಿದದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರ ಸಂಬಳಕ್ಕೆ ಖರ್ಚಾಗಿದೆ. ನಿಖರ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಈ ವಾರದ ಕೊನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಣಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಜೊತೆ ಬಂದು ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಮಾಡಿ ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು.

BTM Layout has seen good voter turn out this time. There was lack of proper information till yesterday evening regarding the percentage of voting in the city. There were news that only 40% have voted in BTM Layout, whereas the actual numbers are 53%. This is really good. Congress workers’ over-zealous effort on the day of polling flouting all rules to lure voters could be one factor. There were groups of women waiting till evening for their “payment” (and they had “biriyani food packet” for lunch) .
And, Loksatta could also be another factor. We shall know this tomorrow, when the EVMs are opened.

By the way, we had spent Rs.8-10 lakhs in the last two and a half month for this campaign. Majority of our expenses went for printing material, bulk-SMS, and TV/paper ads, and the rest for paying campaign workers. Clear numbers will be available by the end of this week. I would like to thank all the donors and supportes for their contribution and time.
